WVU Tech men’s soccer team host first ever ID Camp in Beckley – WVNS-TV

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – The WVU Tech men’s soccer team hosted a camp for players from all over West Virginia on Saturday, April 13. Around 100 high school soccer players showed up at the Paul Cline Memorial Sports Complex in Beckley to show off their skills.

Golden Bear Head Coach Oliver Hewitt-Fisher said this is a good way to recruit local talent to the team.

“We are just looking to build our roster,” Hewitt-Fisher said. “Obviously we have a lot of international players on our team, but we are looking to bring in a few more local and American kids to the team, so this is an opportunity to do that.”

The high school players were also able to run drills with the men’s varsity team from Tech. Coach Hewitt-Fisher said they will have more camps like this in the future.
