Tiverton completes huge comeback to win Division IV Super Bowl title

The Tiverton High School football team defeated North Smithfield and Mount St. Charles 43-29 to clinch the Division IV Super Bowl title Sunday.

The Tiverton High School football team defeated North Smithfield and Mount St. Charles co-op 43-29 to clinch the Division IV Super Bowl title Sunday.

The Tigers overcame a 22-point deficit early in the second quarter before tying the game at halftime.

Nate Upchurch scored a receiving touchdown and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Quarterback Matthew Gacioch scored a touchdown on a QB keeper that put the game out of reach late in the fourth quarter and earned the Super Bowl MVP honors.

“We’ve been playing together for a really long time,” said Gacioch. “We really wanted this the whole season and we got it.”
