The Fashion Monger: MUST-HAVE FALL | WINTER FASHION TRENDS

These hottest updated inspired runway trends should be added to your existing wardrobe.

During New York Fashion Week, designers featured ’80s- inspired styles for the ladies and ’90s-retro for men. If you remember anything about the ’80s, you’ll recall that the big hair, fanny pack, oversized shouldered suits, high-gloss and neon-bright fabrics were the hottest things going.

In the ’90s, hair had blond highlights and everything was oversized. Also prominent were grunge, plaid, denim, overalls and the nylon fabric tracksuit (we know it now as athleisure wear.)

Adding ’80s-inspired neon pink, green, yellow and the new Electric Blue will renovate your current style and all ages can rock this look if you dare u to be u! To keep it simple, accessorize by adding a neon cross body or neon  fanny pack. By adding a high-gloss — foil — metallic element to your wardrobe, you are making a bold statement and will definitely be THE center of attention.

Metallic MUST-HAVE: puffer coat, moto jacket or silver metallic shirt dress. Brands like Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Tom Ford will keep you looking edgy and casual.  I would pair the jacket with black fitted jeans, and pair the dress with black suede or black patent leather knee high boots. (CAUTION: This is a statement piece. Add no accessories; less is more.)  Your makeup should be nude to appear effortless. Slick your hair back in a ponytail. Top this edgy look with metallic-silver painted nails. This will look great on all ages if you keep it sophisticated.

As for the ’90’s retro trend, add layers to the grunge, plaid. Oversize the trend with a shoulder blazer or boyfriend jeans.   But, whatever you do, don’t oversize both at the same time.

For a comfy style, a lightweight nylon tracksuit with neon hue keeps you looking polished even on your worst days.   To keep it chic, splurge and invest in a updated grey- or brown-plaid suit. This power suit can be worn day to night and will upgrade your style. And this investment will remain stylish in your wardrobe for years to come.
