PTI chairman is expected to announce his govt’s strategies and policies in address, now rescheduled for 9:30pm
All eyes are set on TV screens as Prime Minister Imran Khan is all set to address the nation for the first time after assuming charge of the country’s top office.
Imran is expected to announce his government’s strategies and policies in tonight’s address.
PM Khan was initially scheduled to address the nation at 8pm, however, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry announced on Twitter that the former’s address would now be aired at 9:30pm.
Earlier in the day, the chairman of ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also called for a parliamentary meeting to discuss presidential elections and other key matters.
The meeting was attended by PTI leaders including senators, members of national and provincial assemblies and coalition partners.
Imran assumed charge as premier after President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath-taking ceremony at the President House on Saturday.
The ceremony was attended by top civil-military brass including former interim prime minister Nasirul Mulk, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and others.
He was presented a guard of honour upon arrival at the Prime Minister House.
Ditching the traditional address to the nation following oath-taking ceremony, Imran headed to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) where he held meetings and was briefed briefed over government matters.
