Paul Gascoigne abandons Soccer AM interview after sleeping pills leave him ‘unwell’ and fans are heartbroken: ‘Just sad’

Paul Gascoigne was forced to cut short his appearance on Soccer AM today after taking a dosage of sleeping tablets the night before, which left him unwell and barely able to talk.

Viewers claimed the footballing hero slurred his words and was visibly tired as he sat down with hosts Fenners, Jimmy Bullard and Lloyd Griffith on the Sky One show.

Initially viewers were hopeful as the father-of-three was joking around with host Fenners and appearing to be in high spirits, until his later interview on the sofa was just uncomfortable viewing for those watching on at home.

And 45 minutes into the live broadcast, Fenners told audiences that Gazza had left the studio prematurely, which understandably fans left fans of the 51-year-old heartbroken.

‘Gazza on Soccer AM…. looks well(ish) but damn… speaks really slowly, slurring his words all over the shop. I can see why most tv channels don’t put him on tv anymore. Just sad,’ wrote one audience member.

That was followed by: ‘Really affected by the nick of gazza on soccer am. No matter what team you support it’s tragic to see somebody struggling so much. I really hope he can sort himself out.’

‘Such a shame watching gazza on soccer am,’ added a third. ‘He was rightly hooked during the first ad break.. he Cud barely string a sentence together.. such a legend of a footballer..’
