The provincial commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula, expressed shock following the death of an off duty police officer, who was shot and killed in Site B on Sunday night.
According to information, the 40-year-old police Sergeant, who was stationed at Mitchell’s Plain SAPS detectives, was in Khayelitsha when he was shot by three unidentified gunmen, who robbed him off his cellphone.
“The member was unarmed at the time of the incident,” said police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana.
“The SAPS management led by the provincial commissioner, has expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues of the member.”
