Nicki Minaj shows love for rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine following arrest: ‘I am praying for you’

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is getting love from Nicki Minaj following his arrest Sunday on racketeering and firearm charges

On Wednesday, 6ix9ine’s team announced that his upcoming debut album, “Dummy Boy,” is delayed until further notice. Minaj, who was set to appear on the album with guests Kanye West and Tory Lanez, took to Instagram to confirm the news and share her support for the embattled emcee, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez.

“For reasons beyond music, the record company will hold off on putting his project out for now,” Minaj wrote. “Danny, I love you and am praying for you, your Mother, daughter & her Mom during this time.”

It’s not the first time Minaj, 35, has gotten behind 6ix9ine, 22: The “Queen” raptress drew criticism this summer for featuring the hip-hop newcomer — who was convicted of simulating sex and spanking a 13-year-old on camera — on her song “Fefe,” which hit No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in August. He was missing from her performance of the track at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, but by no choice of hers.

“I wanted him to perform with me at the VMAs and somewhere along the line he didn’t get approved to perform by the powers that be,” Minaj said during an August episode of Queen Radio. “I don’t want anyone to think for a second that I wouldn’t invite him to perform his hit record. I want everyone to know my character. I really fought. It is what it is. When I know somebody there’s nothing you can tell me about (them). That’s just how it is.”

But not everyone appears to be standing with 6ix9ine in his latest brush with the law. His close friend and mentor, 50 Cent, posted a picture of them together on Instagram Monday, captioned with a cryptic message seemingly distancing himself from the “Gummo” breakout.

“My son got picked up, I told him don’t call me,” 50 Cent wrote. “(Expletive). The Fed’s on ya fool, call ya momma. don’t put the FBI on my phone. positive vibes only.”

Now facing life in prison, 6ix9ine was denied bail Monday after a prosecutor said there was evidence that he directed or participated in multiple acts of gang violence.
