Muskegon County joins other areas to have bat test positive for rabies

MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI — A bat has tested positive for rabies in Muskegon County, health officials say.

The county joins Kent County as places where at least one bat has tested positive for rabies in recent weeks.

The Muskegon County Health Department’s web site included a post Friday, July 13 that noted the discovery of the rabid bat but provided no other details.

The post does give considerable information about what to do if someone is bitten or scratched by a bat.
