Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were “overwhelmed” with the people’s support during their royal wedding.
In May, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex exchanged “I do’s” at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor back in May. Nearly two months later, the royal couple released thank you cards for their fans.
Letters Royal shared a snap of Prince Harry and Markle’s cards on Instagram. Based on the photos, the card was placed in a white envelope marked “from Kensington Palace.” The card featured one of Prince Harry and Markle’s photos during their big day where the newlyweds were seated in the stairs with big smiles on their faces. At the back of the photo is the message from the royal couple.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their Wedding, and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did,” the message read. “It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes.”
According to Prince Harry and Markle’s royal photographer, Alexi Lubomirski, the shot featured on the card went out naturally. They were already very tired and he suggested that they sit down on the stairs and caught the newlyweds in that position.
“It was just one of those magical moments, when you’re a photographer and everything falls into place,” Lubomirski said (via Express). “I said just before you go in, let’s sit down on these stairs, and she just slumped in between his legs. They were just laughing because they were joking about how they were exhausted and finally it was over.”
In related news, Prince Harry and Markle reportedly stopped holding hands. The duke was caught on camera ignoring his wife’s effort to lock fingers when they joined Queen Elizabeth II at the Queen’s Young Leaders Awards ceremony last week.
The experts have different opinions about the incident. According to People, Prince Harry “knows the drills when his grandmother, the Queen is around.” On the other hand, royal etiquette expert William Hanson believed that it was no longer necessary that they hold hands because “Markle is now more confident.”
Prince Harry and Markle were last spotted on Thursday at a reception in London. On the said sighting, the new duchess stunned in her yellow dress. The royal couple was photographed holding hands again.
