Love Sonia trailer: Mrunal Thakur, Demi Moore’s movie on sex trafficking looks heart-wrenching – watch video

Tabrez Noorani’s Love Sonia has been in the making for a long time now. The production began in 2015, while the principal photography kick-started in 2016, with popular TV actress, Mrunal Thakur, on board to play the titular role. Soon, the cast was joined by stalwarts like Demi Moore, Manoj Bajpayee, Freida Pinto, Anupam Kher to name a few. The movie premiered at the London Film Festival earlier, where it received a rave response from the critics. Today, the first trailer of Love Sonia was released on YouTube and the heart wrenching first look of the movie is sure to garner attention.

Love Sonia tells the story of Sonia (Mrunal Thakur), whose father sells off her sister, Preeti, to sex traffickers. Sonia enters the dark, gritty, Godless world of prostitution to find her sister and bring her back home. The search takes Sonia across the globe while enslaved in the sex trade. Love Sonia is the story of her search and rescue.

The trailer paints a very grim picture. From the first look, it is evident that all the actors have put their finest performances on display. The scene, where Sonia cries and asks her father to let Preeti go free, will move you. The background score helps the trailer to make the viewer feel emotional. Love Sonia certainly seems like the kind of movie you should not miss.

Talking about the film, Manoj Bajpayee has said, “Lots of my friends who are directors and have watched it have appreciated the film. Lots of people have seen it at international film festivals. I remember when (Hollywood actress) Demi Moore watched this film in Los Angeles, she wasn’t able to speak for two to three hours after watching it. So that kind of impression… this film leaves on the mind of the audience.”
