There are fashion statements, and then there are fashion conundrums.
The ensemble that Kanye West had on at The Fader’s office Thursday morning was certainly the latter.
On his head: A red “Make America Great Again” hat that he said he redesigned with a new shape and added “positive energy.”
On his body: A white sweatshirt that he said he designed, emblazoned with the name and face of Colin Kaepernick.
What’s the message sent by a rapper wearing a pro-President Donald Trump cap and a pro-activist top, at a time when Dr. Christine Blasey Ford was testifying about her alleged past sexual assault by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh? Our guess: Kanye is still proudly being Kanye. And let’s please stop reading more into everything he’s doing.
West is the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend and was at The Fader offices to preview his album “Yandhi,” say something about how he thinks Louis CK should host “SNL” and make questionable claims about the meaning of an offensive-sounding lyric and the number of slaves in the 1800s. Nothing to see here.
