Kanye West says he ‘wasn’t given a chance to answer’ Jimmy Kimmel’s question about Trump

Kanye West is setting the record straight on being shut down on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

In a series of tweets, the 41-year-old rapper said he “wasn’t stumped” after Jimmy Kimmel asked West why he thought President Donald Trump cared about black people.

Instead, West claims he was never “given a chance to answer the question.”

“On Jimmy Kimmel we had a great time having a dialogue. I’m reading that I was stumped by a question. Let me clarify the click bait. I wasn’t stumped,” West, an outspoken supporter of Trump, tweeted Saturday night.

During Thursday’s late night show, the “Ye” rapper took a long pause after Kimmel referenced West’s infamous 2005 comment that former President George W. Bush didn’t care about black people.

The father of three said the pause wasn’t because he was puzzled, but rather a brief delay to contemplate the seriousness of the question. Then, Kimmel suggested a commercial break.

The question was so important I took time to think,” West tweeted Saturday. “And then I was hit with the let’s go to commercial break.”

West didn’t answer the question when the show returned to the air.

During West’s appearance, he talked about being bullied by the “left,” the “news” and the “hip-hop community” for his support of President Trump.

“Everyone around me tried to pick my candidate for me, and then told me every time I said I liked Trump that I couldn’t say it out loud or my career would be over, I’d get kicked out (of) the black community,” he said. “Because blacks, we’re supposed to have a monolithic thought: We can only be Democrats.”

Despite their different opinions, West made it clear there’s no bad blood between him and Kimmel.

“I was so happy when I saw Jimmy walk out in the Yeezys. That was an olive branch. He lead with love. I appreciate Jimmy and his team. You guys are Jedi’s. much love,” he tweeted Saturday.

West has vocally supported Trump since the 2016 presidential election.

Trump thanked West after his appearance on Kimmel because “he is willing to tell the TRUTH.”
