It’s Your City: Carson City Classic Cinema Club hosts 5th Hollywood Gala May 18 – Carson Now

The capital city will celebrate Tinseltown, classic cinema and raise money for Carson City school art programs at the 5th annual Hollywood Gala on Saturday, May 18 with the theme “A Star is Born” hosted by Carson City Classic Cinema Club.

In this edition of It’s Your City, host Cortney Bloomer sits down with Rhonda Abend, founder of the Carson City Classic Cinema Club, also known as “C5” which brings time treasured films to Carson City while at the same time helping raise money for local children involved in the arts. Rhonda and Cortney talks about the upcoming Saturday, May 18 celebration at Gold Dust West. Doors open at 6 p.m., with a buffet dinner to be served at 7 p.m. Strike a pose on the red carpet, enjoy the music of Me & Bobby McGee (Bob Reid and June Joplin), and plot a strategy to win a prize in the raffle, silent auction or one of several live auctions for beautifully framed, autographed celebrity photographs. There will be a “Gala Special” for first-time members joining at the Gala.

Carson City Classic Cinema Club hosts movies the second Tuesday of the month at the Brewery Arts Center. Several blockbuster classics will be shown in the coming days and weeks ahead including “12 Angry Men” this Tuesday night, and “High Noon” among others. Follow C5 on its Facebook page here.
