COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

It may be Friday the 13th, but some lucky person could be millions of dollars richer.

“It’s Friday the 13th. It’s bad luck you know,” says lottery player Braxton Kimbrough.

“You know that’s one of those bad days. One of those bad luck days. That may be the best time to go get one huh? I might have to go do that,” says another lottery player.

Superstition isn’t keeping those in the Chattahoochee Valley from the possibility of making history in the  $340 million jackpot for the Mega Millions lottery. That’s because it would be only the seventh time in the game’s history that a jackpot was hit on Friday the 13th. Those in the area say it may be their lucky night.

“I might have to go back over there to get one because I was looking for an Xbox or PlayStation, but I rather take my chance on the lottery,” says  John Abbott.

Not only are the numbers high for Mega Millions, but the jackpot for Powerball is $100 million. Some of those players say they know exactly what they would do with that kind of money.

“I would probably live abroad for about six months. That way it would’ve died down from people knowing that I won the money. By the time I got back, they would’ve probably forgotten about it and they wouldn’t ask me for none,” says a lottery player.

If the winner is in Georgia, Senate Bill 331 says they can submit a request to remain anonymous if they win $250,000 or more. The Senate passed the bill 50 to 4 and the Georgia House passed the bill 173 to 1 back in March.
