FORTNITE DOWN UPDATE 3
Fortnite is back online, however, not without some consequences.
Namely, it appears that the game is suffering from terrible lag and sound glitches when playing.
Naturally, everyone has taken to Twitter to complain and highlight some of these problems. In response, Epic has told fans the developers are “looking into it” but there’s no eta on when this could be fixed.
“its so laggy and all the sound is broken please fix this – pc player.” wrote one players online.
“Anyone else experiencing sound glitches and loads of lag? That Werent happening before the update!” asked enough.
It also appears this isn’t just the PC players, as some on console are reporting problems too: “Its the same for the ps4 pro its unplayable it gets so blurry when you move

FORTNITE DOWN UPDATE 2
Fortnite developer Epic has confirmed that the Battle Royale and Save the World servers have been shut down ahead of the new update.
There’s still no word on how long the game will be offline, but Epic has at least released new patch notes while fans wait.
“Downtime for V.2.5.0 is now underway!” reads an Epic tweet. “While you wait to get your hands on all the shiny new things, take a look at the V.2.5.0 Patch Notes.”
According to the patch notes, dynamic resolution has been enabled on PS4 and Xbox One. You can see some of the new features in the gallery above.
“Valentine’s day is a time for love, loot and llamas! Patch v.2.5.0 introduces a new grenade, Shrines, weapon balance and bug fixes drop into Battle Royale. Save the World introduces Spring it On!, adding a new Valentine’s Questline, Lunar New Year Heroes and … Dragon Weapons!”
FORTNITE DOWN UPDATE 1 –
Epic Games have now taken Fortnite offline for both Battle Royale and Save the World players.
This period of server maintenance, as mentioned previously, was pre-planned by the team as they look to role out the latest update to the game.
The official tweet from the games Twitter account read:
“Something is springin’ up on us… V.2.5.0! Downtime for the V.2.5.0 patch will begin on February 15 at 4:00am ET (0900 GMT). Matchmaking for Battle Royale will be disabled at 3:30am ET(0830 GMT).”
It’s not known currently how long this downtime might go on for, as Epic has not provided a timescale beyond the above times mentioned.
With any luck, the game should come back online ASAP
ORIGINAL STORY – Fortnite Battle Royale and Save The World servers will be down this morning on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, as Epic, the North Carolina based developer, takes the game offline in order to update the game to its new patch, V.2.5.0.
According to Epic, this scheduled maintenance is due to begin at 4:00am ET, which for anyone in the UK is 09:00am GMT (30 minutes for now).
However, matchmaking will be disabled slightly earlier for all Battle Royale and Save the World players and is due to begin at 3:30am ET, which again, is 08:30am GMT for anyone in the UK.
In an official announcement on the games Reddit page, a member of the Epic development team apologised for the delay and added that for now, there was no more details on the patch notes, which will be coming shortly afterwards.
“We apologize for the poor communication around this release and the delay of the patch! When we have more info on when the update will land, we’ll drop those details.”
Do not be surprised if the maintenance takes longer than usual – we’re used to seeing that with Fortnite with every update that occurs. The game is rarely down for more than an hour at a time.
And equally, it’s not unheard of for any update to create one or two sudden game breaking bugs. That said, Epic are usually good with this sort of thing, so it wouldn’t be long for them to get it fixed anyway.
Keep reading for a reminder of the new features previously mentioned by Epic, which may be coming to the game today.
Last week, Epic outlined some rough features coming to the game with Patch V.2.5.0 and said on their blog post:
“Valentine’s day is coming and Fortnite is getting in the spirit. Feeling lovey-dovey?
“Then grab yourself Valentine’s Day themed skins in Battle Royale. Gunpowder, not your thing? The new Crossbow allows you to hunt your prey the old-fashioned way.
“Eliminate your targets with stealth and finesse with this new addition. Need more love? For our Save the World fans, our new Valentines themed quest starts.”
Meanwhile, we got a brief glimpse at patch notes thanks to the games V.2.3.0 update.
This included the new Valentine’s Event with a “Special Valentine’s questline – A Love Story, told the Fortnite way” as well as:
• Valentines-themed Heroes
• Cupid Crossbow
• New reactive quest type
• Opt-In Difficulty increase for greater challenge and rewards
We imagine that these will be coming later today but possibly with plenty more changes too.
Plus, there’s also a few changes to the games Seasonal Gold and Firecracker Tickets which were also mentioned briefly in the Reddit post last night, details of which you’ll find underneath.
Seasonal Gold and Firecracker Tickets
“Our initial plan was to reset Seasonal Gold in v2.5.0 which may have caused you to lose leftover gold. To try and avoid that we adjusted to convert the leftover gold to Firecracker Tickets. Due to the delay in the build, there is nothing in the event store and Storm Llamas have disappeared.
“We did a poor job communicating this and did not create a good experience for you.
“Future gold resets will be on specific dates, following the Spring it on Event, and we will communicate that information to you in advance.
“For now, Seasonal Gold will be converted to Firecracker Tickets. We’ll be adding a random Blue Schematic (no limit on number) to the store, for you to spend any leftover Seasonal Gold you have.
“Current conversion rates can we found below:
“Each stack of 1000 Storm Event Tickets has been exchanged for Storm Llamas. Up to 3000 Seasonal Gold will be converted 3 to 1 into Firecracker Tickets, and any additional gold beyond that will be lost.
Stay tuned for more details on the update coming later today
