Chiefs coach Colin Cooper said Sam Cane was going “really well” at training.
Williams, 33, posted a picture dressed in his graduation gown with his family, and an image of the certificate, along with some words of inspiration.
“Yes a Pacific Islander, boxer, league, sevens & rugby player can GRADUATE! Don’t ever let anyone pigeon hole you. Alhamdulillah,” wrote Williams, whose father is Samoan.
Williams was one of 10 Blues players who enrolled in Otago Polytechnic last year through Capable New Zealand, a school within the tertiary institution, studying remotely while also using the Auckland campus.
The All Blacks midfielder has been able to devote more time to his studies after undergoing knee surgery last month.
He is yet to return for the Blues with the setback casting a cloud over his bid to make a third World Cup later this year.
