ASABA—Following the failure of Delta State Government, DTSG, to pay two years rent arrears of a property situated along Benin-Asaba Express-way, Asaba, the owner of the property, Onianwa Family of Asaba, has barricaded the entrance to the property.

The property houses Delta State Board of Internal Revenue’s headquarters annex, the Office of the Area Tax Controller, the Resident Coordinator,Tax office Training School, Fadama Coordination Office, Pre-Audit Office and Delta State Computer Centre.

The Onianwas disclosed that they have written series of letters to the Ministry of Lands and Surveys for the 2016 and 2017 rent arrears but have not received any acknowledgement to that effect, as they described the development as an act of impunity and administrative recklessness.

The Onianwa Family urged DSG, which has occupied the property since the creation of the state, to clear the arrears before its purported packing out this month.
