Cleveland Public Power is reporting a power outage on the entire west side of Cleveland.
According to a Facebook post by the electric company, they are their fed power by CEI, which is a company owned by the Illuminating Company. The main power line that feeds the power to CPP customers in the city’s west side has reportedly gone down.
CPP is fed power by CEI and this evening CEI’s main power line that feeds our entire west side went down. That means the entire west side of Cleveland is without power. CEI has assured us they have people working on this matter to get power restored as quickly as possible.
What this means is that any CPP customers on Cleveland’s west side are currently without power.
According to CPP, CEI has assured them they have people working on this matter to get power restored as quickly as possible.
According to the Illuminating Company, the outage is taking longer than expected because CPP’s own alternate lines have been out of service for a year.
CPP & CEI are assessing an outage to CPP customers on Cleveland’s west side. CPP couldn’t restore their customers quickly because their own alternate line has been out of service for a year+. We are happy to help restore power once the outage cause is identified.

Both CPP & CEI are assessing the outage and working to find the cause.
The power outage also affected the Asian Lantern Festival at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo this evening. The zoo will be adding an extra night to the festival that runs Thursday through Sunday every week until August 19th.
Thank you to all of the guests who attended the Asian Lantern Festival tonight, August 11. Due to tonight’s Cleveland Public Power massive power outage, we are adding a special night for those who purchased tickets for this evening’s event.
