The attack happened around 6pm and officer told a reporter from the Birmingham Mail there has been “several casualties”.
One witness told Birmingham Live: “There was a massive group of kids, I’d say they were all probably aged around 16…
“There were probably about 30 of them….It was only later when I heard someone had been stabbed.”
Roads closed include near the NCP car park, Dale End, Bull Street and officers have told the public the shutdown will last hours.
West Midlands Police said in a statement on Twitter: “Police were called just before 5.45pm on October 2 to reports of disorder on High Street in Birmingham city centre.
“Three people are believed to to have suffered stab injuries and are being taken to hospital.
“The extent of their injuries is not clear. A police cordon is in place around the High Street and Dale End area.
“Investigations are at a very early stage and CCTV is being examined.”
