Arsenal will be without club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette when they welcome Premier League rivals Manchester United to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The France international was forced off at half-time in Wednesday’s 5-0 victory over Huddersfield due to a groin injury and manager Arsene Wenger has ruled him out of the game against the Red Devils.
Lacazette opened the scoring for the Gunners in midweek after just 3 minutes and will be a huge loss for Arsenal, having started the last 3 games for Wengers side.
Lacazette’s injury could pave way for Olivier Giroud to start his first league game of the season after coming on and grabbing two goals in Wednesdays win.
Gunners fans could be forgiven for being slightly concerned when Alexis Sanchez also hobbled off midweek due to a hamstring problem, but Wenger is more optimistic over his availability.
Alex Iwobi (leg) could also be back in contention whilst Santi Cazorla (Achilles) is a long-term absentee and is no closer to a return.
Jack Wilshere is included in the squad and it will be interesting to see if he gets any playing time with the January transfer window looming.
Provisional squad: Cech, Ospina, Mertesacker, Holding, Koscielny, Mustafi, Chambers, Monreal, Debuchy, Bellerin, Nelson, Kolasinac, Maitland-Niles, Ramsey, Wilshere, Xhaka, Elneny, Ozil, Iwobi, Walcott, Sanchez, Welbeck, Giroud.
