Adoption Guild Patroness Spring Luncheon features fashion frends

The 57th Annual Adoption Guild Patroness Spring Luncheon unfolded at Balboa Bay Resort, attracting 250 women for the fashion event that aimed to garner donations for its annual $100,000 donation to Holy Family Services.

Featuring special guests Marie and Kelly Gray and seasonal prêt-à-porter from Grayse Fashion Island, the fashion runway show produced by Couture Productions entertained the women whose intent was nonetheless serious: to support the work of Holy Family Services Adoption and Foster Care.

Leading the event were co-chairs Maria Zucht and Christine Johnson, supported by Guild president Chris Garber. Mistress of ceremonies Stephanie Peleuses kept the pace lively with auction/raffle items, including the grand prize of a $2,500 gift certificate to Fashion Island.

Adoption Guild leaders expounded on the value of giving generously to Holy Family Services. “Did you know that most adoption agencies provide counseling to the birth parent for just 3 months after giving birth? I am proud to say that HFS birth parents are promised free counseling whenever they need to talk, now or ten years from now. HFS professional counselors are available to discuss grief or guilt or any aspect of their decision to give up their child to offer confirmation that the child they gave birth to will be loved. Donations make this possible,” Guild patron and former president Pam Selber explained.

Funding from the Guild also not only supports the services of registered pediatric nurse and certified doula Connie O’Neill but also the vast record keeping of Holy Family Services. Its files are a vital link to the past for adopted children seeking information as adults. This important historical link along with providing very basic services such as supplying new adoptive families with diapers, formula, and all the necessities required for infant care, all part of the process funded by Guild donations.

Coming up over Memorial Day Weekend, the Adoption Guild will sponsor its major annual event, The 57th Annual Roy Emerson Adoption Guild Tennis Classic in Orange County. To learn more, go to Adoption Guild.
